From Herbalism to Spagyria: A Thorough Overview of How To Make the Transition
Every tree has its roots, its trunk, its branches, and its leaves; so it is with the Tree of Western Medical Traditions. A very significant portion of the Tree is composed of the many branches and leaves that represent Modern Herbal, Energetic, Homeopathic, and Integrated Medicine Traditions, though what most people don’t realize is that Spagyria is the Taproot of this Tree and that nearly all modern medical/medicinal arts and science have their roots in the Spagyric Tradition. In this class, we will create an overview of the branches that deal with Modern Herbalism and Related Practices and show how those practices fit into Spagyria.
In particular, students will learn about Tincture-Making, Essential Oil and Hydrosol Distillations, Homeopathy + The Poison Path, Brewing, Fermenting, Distilling Spirits, etc; and how all these aspects of Modern Herbal Practices fit into Spagyric Practice. By gaining this perspective, practitioners can use the common practices as a fulcrum to pivot into Spagyric Practice. Moreover, we’ll be discussing what types of Spagyric Pharmacopoeia are ideally suited for each type of Herbal Practitioner based on the commonalities they share. Furthermore, advice, tips, and ideas will be presented to help practitioners use their current expertise, bioregion, and individual flair to carve out a sustainable and ethical niche within the ever-growing field of Spagyric Practitioners.
This recorded live class is designed to appeal to current herbal practitioners and herbalists who are interested in learning how they can begin creating items of Spagyric Pharmacopoeia using their current practices and talents.
Class contains a 2 hour and 11 minute video.
Your Instructor
Phoenix Aurelius has been a practitioner and instructor of the Alchemical Arts and Sciences since 2005. What causes him to stand out among many other practitioners and educators is that he is primarily self-educated and went about things just by following the Alchemical Axiom: Lege, Lege, Relege, Ora, et Labora. In English, this means "Read, Read, Reread, Pray, and Work." Phoenix is inspired greatly from early 21st Century Authors such as Bartlett, Cotnoir, Stavish, and others who wrote candidly in modern English. He started practicing using really humble kitchen equipment for more than 2 years. After devouring those works, he then went on to read the works of late 20th century authors such as Dubuis, Junius, and Albertus. After an unprecedented inheritance in 2010 of Alchemical and Hermetic writings and notes from students and staff from PRS, Phoenix took a considerable interest in the medical philosophies and actions of Paracelsus and has been reconstructing Spagyric Theory, Philosophy, Practice, and Pharmacopoeia for the 21st Century ever since.
